Ios Island - Greece. All you need to know

Today I will tell you everything you need to know about IOS island in Greece. Ios is part of the Cyclades and one of the most beautiful islands. The island combines everything one wants to find in an island.

Beaches:

There are many beaches in the island but the best one is by far Milopotas beach. A very big beach with crystal clear waters, golden sand and lots of things to do along the way. If you like to party on the beach there is the famous “Far Out” beach bar. Far out is also a camping. Along the way of the beach one can do various sea sports. But if you want to relax and just enjoy some nice music, in an easygoing environment the best place to do so is a bar restaurant called “Free”. All photos below are from Milopotas beach and specifically from “Free” beach bar. During the month of June you can rent for the whole day the whole cabana with the large double bed from 10 – 20 euro (depending which row you want to be) and during July and August from 15-35 euro. Including in the price you also get a free shot per person and a fruit salad per person.

Food:

Food is quite nice in Ios and there are lots of nice restaurants within Chora. I cannot distinguish between the restaurants in Chora. Each of them has something nice to offer. If you like crepes the best one is “Nutella” on the main road. Avoid all others. If you like Greek souvlaki try “Yummy” next to Nutella. Avoid all others. But if you really want to try really nice typical Greek cuisine after the beach, you should definitely visit “Polydoros” on your way to “Koumpara” beach. “Polydoros” is a family traditional restaurant with amazing Greek cuisine food. You should not miss this!

Accommodation:

This time we stayed at the beautiful hotel “Yalos beach hotel”. It was a very nice room, renovated in 2017. If you do stay there make sure you ask for the “traditional” room. Prices range between 80-150 euro depending on the period and accommodation type. On the negative points the only bad thing I could say about the hotel is the poor breakfast they offer. Other than that it was really nice and clean so I definitely recommend it.

Alternatively another really nice accommodation to stay is the “Brothers hotel”. It is cheaper than Yalos hotel ranging between 60-100 euro per night and quite nice as well. The breakfast is much nicer. We stayed there last year and we were equally pleased.

Sunset in IOS:

No one should miss the sunset in Ios from “Pathos” bar restaurant on your way to “Koumpara” beach. Pathos is an amazing bar that deserves a separate post that will follow showing the whole experience of the sunset. The guy who own “Pathos” owns also “Free” mentioned above, “Steps” (a bar in Chora with amazing cocktails) and “Taste of Joy” and some hotels as well. He has done an amazing job to all of these.
