Acapulco Best Beaches
Acapulco is a proud destination with a long tradition and a wide diversity of top-notch beaches. But, which beaches are the ones that you just can’t miss when you visit this legendary Mexican beach town?
Revolcadero. This is an odd selection admitedly, but we are choosing based on the impressive natural beauty of this spectacular beach. Unprotected by a bay like most other Acapulco beaches, Revolcadero is a bit dangerous as it presents big waves, which make of it a favorite among surfers.
La Condesa. One of the most popular beaches in Acapulco, this is a lively, buzzing place filled with youngsters. Here you can practices different water sports such as windsurf, snorkeling, jet-ski, water ski and even bungee jump (ok, that’s not a water sport but you get the idea).
Icacos. The largest beach in Acapulco. Playa Icacos is a long beautiful stretch of sand right in the heart of Acapulco. It is so long that the surf is strong in some areas of the beach, and more tranquil at other spots. The practice of windsurfing is widespread at Icacos.

Caleta & Caletilla. These twin beaches are arguably the most traditional ones in all Acapulco. They are not the most exclusive or spectacular, this is deep Mexico, where you go for the experience not for the luxury. Enjoy a meal at any of its many restaurants along the beach and travel in time to an age when Acapulco wasn’t yet a renowned international tourist destination.
Hornos & Hornitos. Another pair of twin beaches, Hornos & Hornitos location offers one of the best views in town. Popular among families as its waters are very calm, perfect for swimming with kids. This is the place where you go if you want to get on one of those parachutes floating up in the sky around the bay.
There are many other beaches in Acapulco, some still in town, some just a few kilometers away. We could mention Puerto Marques or Barra Vieja, just to name a few, and each of them have a unique set of assets that make them attractive and desirable for a visit. However we are trying to narrow down the options here and focus your attention on just the beaches you can’t miss when coming to Acapulco. If time allows you for more, we strongly recommend taking the car and driving north of town, where you may find some surprisingly beautiful beaches.
