Adventure to the 12 Apostles

So yesterday my family thought we'd go on a little adventure before my parents head back to work next week.

Living in Melbourne we're very spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing something to do.

We've lived here for about 4 years and have never been along The Great Ocean Road or seen the 12 Apostles, so that's exactly what we decided to do.

It took about 4 1/2 hours from my home to get to the Apostles, and 5 hours to get back, but it was definitely worth it.

On the drive down we took the 'quicker' route which lead us through the country and skipped the Great Ocean Road. On the drive there wasn't much to look at. Luckily for us, time seemed to fly by and before we knew it we were pulling up in the car park. Unfortunately, it was really busy but I still managed to get some pretty awesome pictures.
They're called the 12 Apostles but there's only 8 due to erosion, definitely come and see them now before they're all gone!

It was surreal! I'd seen pictures online but of course seeing it in person is so much better. I love the ocean and finally being beside it again just made me feel relaxed. It's funny actually, I'm scared of being out in the ocean but absolutely love being next to it and listening to the waves crash on the shore.

We stayed there for about half an hour before heading to Port Campbell for some much needed lunch!

Port Campbell was only 10 minutes down the road and it was tucked away in a beautiful spot. We walked down the main street where there were a number of different cafes/restaurants to choose from. We stopped at one cafe and sat down, but there wasn't much choice on the menu at all!
So we decided to keep walking and then found a restaurant situated on a corner overlooking a gorgeous bay.

The food was a little overpriced (luckily for me my parents paid!!) but it was really good.
After we'd ate, we grabbed an ice cream and headed back to the car.

On the way back we went along the Great Ocean Road. If you're planning on coming to Melbourne this is definitely a must do! It was a beautiful drive, but it did take a long time. I would definitely recommend getting fuel in Port Campbell before heading back up to Melbourne as there's not many places to stop along the way.
We stopped at this tiny little shop with one fuel pump out the front. We had to queue up and wait for our turn, which took a while...

After 5 hours we were finally home! Make sure you give yourself a whole day to visit the Apostles, they're definitely worth it.

Thanks for reading!

Until next time,
