Into the world

Prelude
The unknown

Recently (actually last summer here in Croatia) I decided to fly off to the other side of the world with my friends. Four of us, males, some short some tall, some metalheads, some computer geeks, some artists, some all of this (what a killing combination)...but what connected four wandering guys was the same dose (high) of excitement in us like in little kids with their new toys, excitement for wild, exotic and unknown part of this civilization in a land named Japan. Before we even started to make plans the trip we watched a few videos about this fascinating country which lead to a mindset that we know all about it at this point (Yea, right!). So for the rest of the time anticipating date of our departure I was mad at myself for doing a bunch of research what is waiting for us there and the trip went to a level of ''boring'' local trip that I have visited already many times. You can guess it, when we arrived there it was all but place that we already know.

Arrival
Feel the unexpected

We flew over 20 hours, over 10 countries, from Venice through Instanbul until we finally landed into the metropolis of Tokyo.

Arrival at night time! Location, From Narita airport to Shinjuku District.

Off the plain, into the bus, picked up by taxi and deport us directly in front of our apartment. It was one fascinating drive, from unbelievably kind and caring staff at the enormous airport, from 6 people serving us just to get safely into bus and managing our heavy bags, from driving on third level roads above the city and a few subway levels below surface, to tiny apartment of ours where we were squeezed by each other like little wolfs on a first cold. Along with our bags. But that wasn't important at that moment! As soon we dropped our bags on the floor of our new crib, we were already marching on the streets of this concrete jungle. Colorful lights everywhere, tallest skyscrapers wrapping above us, tiniest streets crawling between them, subway station on almost every corner, a sea of peoples on the sidewalks...we were stunned! Did I mention how quiet this city was? Unimaginable quiet! But how? With all those people, cars, subways and trains...how the hell did they manage to do that? Well, my first guess was that people don't speak with each other too loud when they walking down the street or they don't speak at all, my second guess was that there is a majority of electric cars on the roads. Believe it or not, that was it basically. Most of the peasants use the streets to walk from point A to point B, no time for talk, no time for looking around. Even grocery stores or some small business stores are without any music in there and workers barely speak and when they do they do at a low volume. I didn't understand them anyway, the only language for understanding with them was my hands and feets, waving around like an idiot looking for something. Anyway, that first night we were exhausted from long airplane ride so besides that little walk we manage to work out we honoured ourselves with a few beers and some instant noodles (what else) before we went to sleep. :)

The adventure has merely begun with this first page of Travel Diary. Part 2 on its way, until then stay tuned and enjoy in a few photos that I have manage to capture there!
