Tirumala is enclosed by various sacrosanct water bodies (theerthams). Each one of those theerthams are known for its holiness.The prime fascination here is a sanctuary devoted to Lord Hanuman (Anjaneya swamy).

The Anjaneya swamy sanctuary at Japali Theertham, is one of the minimum known and most commendable places of visit in Tirumala. Japali Aanjaneeya swamy sanctuary, or, in other words Tirumala 7 kms from Sree Venkateswara swamy (Lord Balaji) sanctuary.

Travelers visiting Tirumala will never neglect to scrub down in this Japali Teertham, as it trusted that every one of their wrongdoings and shades of malice will be washed out when they dunk in the teertham. It is said that Lord Rama with his associate Sita and sibling Lakshmana remained here alongside Lord Hanuman. There is a lasting lake, called as "Rama Kund", in the sanctuary premises that was said to be the wellspring of drinking water, amid their stay here. There is a water source streaming to this place and it isn't known where the water originates from.
