Jerusalem Photo Tour
It is a real struggle what to write about Jerusalem. You don't wanna get into politics or religious matters (so many things I've seen, so many stories I've heard though...), but you do wanna point out the city's incredible diversity, right? Always a Theologian on paper and Photographer in practice, this city stole my heart - or I should say 'melted' my heart, with 45 degrees in the beginning of May!
So welcome to this Jerusalem Photo Tour, with shots I took a few years ago when I visited this Holy -and beautiful!!!- city, in a small pause within my moving from Rome to Copenhagen. [All pictures were taken either with my Nikon D90 or with my compact Canon Ixus 180.]
I chose to go there, alone, for my 30th birthday, and then fly to Istanbul where my mom was waiting for me (traveled from Greece) to keep on the celebrations together! It was an amazing trip, even though when I went to Tel-Aviv it was the Memorial Day so everything was closing really early and I didn't get the chance to see much of the city...But the weekend in Jerusalem, totally worth it!
Besides the Church of Holy Sepulchre, I also visited the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate where I met the Patriarch! An incredible woman, Irene, working at the Patriarchate, gave me permission for the pictures, and took me around everywhere! Since that day we became friends and we still are :) Unfortunately, because my main day was a Saturday I didn't see much on the Jewish Quarter, where everything is closed, or the Mosque, which is also closed on Saturday :/
Enjoy the tour! And don't forget to smile ;)

Whatever your religious or political thoughts are, Jerusalem is a unique, must visit city!
Beautiful sights to visit, but a little risky without a travel guide or someone to know the area. Nice journey and awesome pictures ;)
Thank you Razvan! Well, I never felt unsafe there but to fair most of the times I did have a local with me haha ;)
Very nice babe! Just did one on the churches of Rome but I like yours more... :)
Totally different kind ;) Thank uuu
Jerusalem is really a fascinating place - where else can you find such a mix of history, religion and culture?
You might be interested in an old post I wrote about my trip there?

really gorgeous photos @meanmommy33! I understand avoiding politics etc...but would love to hear personal reflections you had while visiting this city with SO much history of all kinds! ps. I haven't been on steemitchat in awhile but just opened it up again so I'm reachable that way! Thanks for not spamming comments, everyone appreciates it :-). I haven't seen your posts, again I have too long of a feed but will try to remember to take a look.
Aha! I didn't know you can actually not be on the chat!! How do I do it hahaha! Kidding ;) I never spam - or at least I try, especially on the chat...Good God I have people who constantly text me on chat and even though I kindly asked them not to, they keep on..... :/
Thank you, yes, I remember, mine too, but know every now and then I try to keep track with the ones I really like - and it works! :D
About Jerusalem, yes, maybe I should share more about my experience there, whatever that includes...I will let you know when/if I do, or chat with you about it ;) Have a great Sunday Ruth!!! (by the way, I love your name, that's why I always mention it - my 'Penelope' seems so freakishly Greek, which I am ahaha)
Penelope is a great name with a wonderful story history! I'm back on chat now...:-). Ignore people you don't want to chat with, bummer that you're being spammed!
ps. the more personally meaningful the story, the more interesting ;-)
Thank you :) And I'll be contacting you privately as well then ;) I've been nice at first but now, I don't take it anymore. I tell you once, I tell you twice, the 3rd time you're blocked :P haha
You sure captured some great shots on your trip. In enjoyed viewing them.
Thank you! It was an amazing trip indeed :)
The Patriarch will remain forever in the blockchain ! i like the idea ! ^^
Oh my God, I didn't think of that :P ahahahaha !!!!! Then again, after finishing my theology master's thesis today, and being 33 - the age of Jesus!- I'm there in the picture too, so fair enough :D
