Today I would like to introduce my TOP 5 cities here in Japan. Actually it was really difficult to name only 5, there are so many more great cities which all need a place in this blog. But each it's time.

Here is a brief view at my favorite cities, I will talk about all of them separately in another blog much more in detail.

Tokyo

Do I need to say more? Japan's vibrant capital offers something for everybody and I spent many great weeks in this amazing city. It's very easy to get around, numerous train and subways lines serve the megapolis and run smoothly and almost always on time. Sightseeing and dining from it's best side, a shopping paradise or just a place to drift into a new adventure behind the next corner, Tokyo always excites me again..

Near Tokyo Station you can find the imperial palace, home of the Japanese royal family. This area makes for an interesting atmosphere where the new meets the old.

067 Odaiba (32).JPG

View from Odaiba via Tokyo Bridge, the city offers a beautiful skyline at day and at night.

Kyoto

The old ancient capital of Japan brims over with places to visit on your trip there. Shrines and temples behind every corner and countless opportunities to experience Japanese culture make it a great travel destination. Every season there has it's own particular charm, get ready to be bewitched.

The view of Kinkaku-ji, the Golden Temple it probably one of the most taken photographs in the world.

Kiyumizu-dera, the biggest temple in Tokyo is a must visit for everybody. Try to come twice, see it at day and at night to really embrace the vibes that are around.

Osaka

The culinary capital is famous for their excellent cuisine, let me only name Okonomiyaki, but seems to show a little bit of the wild side of the Japanese people. Things can get a little crazier here, so make sure you will not miss it. It's the second biggest city in Japan and people here cultivate their own special accent.

016 Osaka castle (2).JPG

Osaka castle, one of the most visited castles in Japan, from the top you will have a splendid view over the whole city.

017 Namba (6).JPG

Namba- amusement, entertainment and shopping, all is possible in this lively part of the city. The famous Glicco-Man is THE landmarks in this buzzing area.

Fukuoka

Fukuoka is located on Kyushu, the southern Island of Japan, and is sometimes called a culture city. Many trends derived from here, maybe it's the proximity to South Korea or even Taiwan, which soaks in some ideas and transforms them into a new craze. It also offers great city beaches, definitely a big plus!

You can find nice temples and pagodas sprinkled around the city center

The nearby hills over a superb view, and don't forget it never get's cold here!

Nagasaki

The port city Nagasaki was for a long time the only gate into Japan, during the time when the Tokugawa shogunate tried to keep most foreign influence out of the country. It somehow has a pretty European atmosphere and it is one of the most international cities in Japan.

Some street car lines are crossing and connecting the city, a particular charming point of Nagasaki. It sets you back into a long gone time.

Mt. Inasa hosts the "10 Million Dollar Night view", you can come up here by car or ropeway. Just brilliant.

However, wherever you go in Japan be ready to experience something completely new and just don't shy away from leaving the beaten tracks and also from getting in touch witch some locals. There are so many gems to discover, be the first one to find them!

Wow beautiful! You have a new follower.

Japan is on my bucket list, so much is certain.

Thank you. It is definitely an interesting country to visit, and not too difficult to get around. Trains are super punctual and convenient.
I'm really trying to extend this blog with more stories about cities and life here. But I'm still wondering if I should keep the German and English version separate or together. Still trying out what works best.
Have a nice Thursday

Great shots! I've still never been to Nagasaki or Osaka, but I love Fukuoka! I would put Hiroshima in my top five and possibly Kanazawa as well.

Yeah. Very hard to decide a Top 5. I didnt even mention Yokohama or Kobe

Two more places I've yet to go. Having children really put a stop to my traveling.

Teil 3 einer sehr gelungenen Serie! Weiter so!
