Columbia River, Oregon
I have always wanted to see where the Columbia River met the Pacific Ocean, so after checking out Seaside, Oregon, we drove north on Highway 101 to Fort Stevens. Fort Stevens is a little spit of land that is the northern most point in Oregon by the Columbia River.
This fort was last used during WWII when the US was afraid that the Japanese would invade.
We ran into these Canada Geese.
We drove all the way to the end of the park road and there was a great view of the Columbia River. It was a great site to see. The river was much wider than I thought I would be!
It was very windy and a little cold.
You can hardly tell from this picture that there was quite a drop off down to the water. It must have been about 10 feet. I’m not sure how much the tide would go up and down in this area, but it must change some.
Here is a screenshot of the area from Apple Maps.
We looked around a little more, then decided to drive east over to Astoria, Oregon for lunch. It was about thirty minutes away. On the way we passed many little fishing fleets.
The drive along the river was very beautiful, especially going across Youngs Bay.
The clouds were just amazing!
Here is a little video of the drive.
That bridge goes across the river into the state of Washington.
We arrived at our lunch destination. We didn’t know it at the time, but this restaurant had a big surprise awaiting us! That will be in another upcoming post.
Beautiful photography and the amazing weather...

Amazing photography with awesome travel 😍
What makes a river so restful to people is that it doesn't have any doubt - it is sure to get where it is going, and it doesn't want to go anywhere else. And Oregon is so beautiful and vast. The pictures are amazing though.
