Wanderers... - Corsica, journey across the island.

The GR 20 is a GR footpath that crosses the Mediterranean island of Corsica running approximately north-south, described by the outdoor writer Paddy Dillon as "one of the top trails in the world". The whole trail is about 180 km long, clearly way marked throughout, the walk for most people takes around 15 days. The trail is usually considered as two parts: the northern part, between Calenzana and Vizzavona and the southern part, between Vizzavona and Conca.

Damien, friend of mine, gave me this idea a year before. It was just a casual phone conversation, about nothing in particular one of those you have with your friend to catch up. Hey! I made my mind! - he said to me: I'm going to Corsica, I'm going to see GR 20 track. And even I didn't know what it is at the time, I agreed to join him. I had a year to prepare myself to this journey and when I started to read about Corsica and GR20 , I started to understand, why he sounded so excited ! I also was delighted but ate the same time a bit of scared too....
After a year from our conversation, here we were, siting in a plane and there is the rest of a story in photos. Hope you care to join us to have an insight into the splendor of the Corsican mountains and a sandy beaches!

A journey by train from Bastia across the island's mountains peaks it's definitely something worth experience!

After few rough days spent in the mountains, we were finally back to civilization... just to get some rest!

Some of our group, we were travelling with had to return home earlier. We bet them farewell, as we set out on the more difficult part of our journey. Going up in the mountains to reach famous GR 20 trail ...

We returned to the mountains to travel on the most beautiful and difficult trail of Europe GR20... but just a part of it :)

We've met some new friends on the way... a stray dog, who saved Damien's life on the narrow path in the dark... She stack to us as we shared the food together and was a real mountaineer, coming through the peaks with us! Amazing dog !

Our journey ended happily in a coastal Calvi, a city located on the northwest coast of the island, with a few days of good rest in camping house! Hot water, what a treat after few rough days! Life is good!
