RE: Passing Through the Canal

in #travel5 years ago

I can see renting a houseboat and traveling the canal to be a lot of fun - but I would have to hire someone who knows how to maneuver a boat. I get seasick going out on a boat in the ocean but i imagine that the water is a lot quieter in the canal.

In order to drive one, you need a boater's license. However, I would start with the smaller ones. Houseboats are clumsy but slow and quite tough. They are perfect for people without experience. However, if you are bringing an expensive speed boat or a large catamaran thought the locks, you definitely want a very experienced pilot.
