KRAKÓW - AUSCHWITZ - BIRKENAU - Three days on the trail of the film "Schindler List" directed by Steven Spielberg. A magical city. A story not to be forgotten.
From the airport to the Kraków Sheraton Hotel, in the city center. The snow…
Walking to the restaurant, in the night light
Dinner with typical Polish dishes
First day. The morning at Wawel Castle
Then a walk to the ancient Jewish Quarter. Old shops. The oldest synagogue in the country. Lunch with Yiddish dishes and Polish pastries: the palacinke!
In the afternoon, crossed the river, visiting the Schindler's factory, now transformed into a museum of the Nazi occupation. Do you remember "Schindler's List", the drama movie directed by Steven Spielberg in 1993?
Nearby there was the ghetto, where all the Jews of the city were moved. But there is nothing left of it. Then again the bridge.
And again in the Jewish Quarter, for dinner.
Second day. The Auschwitz concentration camp.
And the Birkenau's extermination camp.
Third day. During the night the snow has fallen. The city has another face...
In the afternoon, at Wieliczka's salt mines and then the last tour of the old town.
In the evening, back home.
That was such a moving movie. Your pictures are fantastic.
I particularly like the photo of the woman working in the kitchen of the Judish restaurant. It reminds me a famous Vermeer's picture...
