I share so many of these sentiments. You explained very well so many of the deep existential realizations I've been having during my five months in Europe. I would add to what you said about not needing many things to be happy by saying that the less things you can survive with the happier you are. I had lost my backpack in France and took up the modo of doing more with less. This adds so much value to what you do have rather than trying to manage more that you value less.
