A realm away from the world - Gokarna , India

Do ever question yourself about the meaning of life and wonder about questions related to existence ? Questions like why are we always running , constantly chasing after things , deadlines and people .? If you do , you must have realized that this the first step towards finding your true self .Our life is defined by experiences. The greater the number of experiences, the better that definition of life becomes. What i feel is , travelling is one of the best ways to gain experience . Which can give some meaning to our life without confusing our life goals to our life dreams .

Hello friends , this post is about a place that is really close to my heart ,a medium to escape from the shackles of everyday reality, a place where you can find peace .The place i'm talking about is called Gokarna , a temple town, a small pilgrimage town in Karnataka(India) which has grown into a tourist destination over the years.

Why visit the temple town?

Gokarna, thanks to its rich history , stretch of beautiful and sandy beaches has become a place of attraction for people seeking peace in a laidback spot similar to Goa( India), but less commercial .With more number of foreigners arriving at this place , it is no longer remains an old fashioned temple town .This trend has divided the crowd into two parts- people who seek blessing and laidback travelers looking for peace .

Gokarna is a mix of pristine beaches and temples . These beaches are one of the best in the country as it is less commercialized.Best beaches to visit in gokarna :

(i). kudle beach, Gokarna -

Kudle beach is my favorite among all the other beaches gokarna has .Its beautiful, the cleanest stretch of sand you will find in the entire country. One side is flanked by the Arabian Sea, the other side is guarded by the rocky mountains of the Western Ghats. You will have to trek a bit to reach there.

The locals have set up shacks lining the shore that offer delicious Mediterranean cuisine and a place to stay . This place attracts quality crowd with the mix of both Indian travelers and foreigners staying there. The locals over there are really friendly and the place and its vibes makes sure that you have an amazing time over there.

(ii). Om beach : The beach gets its name from its shape, as it resembles the religious symbol ‘Om'.

Just like kudle beach , Om Beach has places to eat and shop on the beach and there are hotels and shacks as well.

(iii). paradise beach :

Paradise beach also known as the nude beach ,is less crowded than the above mentioned beaches as it is not easily accessible .You can either trek your way to it or take a boat ride.

Places to stay:

All the above mentioned beaches have nice staying facilities. If you ever visit gokarna , i would suggest you to stay at:
a) Namaste cafe , kudle beach

b)Hotel Gokarna international

All of the above places have meditation center and provide good massage service as well.

Places to eat :

The best thing about being in Gokarna is the delicious Mediterranean cuisine provided there. Hotel Gokarna international serves delicious Italian, Chinese, Continental and Indian cuisine. You can order anything and everything on their menu.

Best time to visit :

october - march. Avoid planning your holiday during monsoon (june - august) as most of the shacks are shut during this time .

I have been to this place a number of times ,but it never gets old . This is the perfect destination as happiness here is sought in simple things . Things like lying down on the cool sand and hearing the sound of the waves . And looking up at the blanket of stars sparkling against the dark sky .Run out to play with the waves or sit and watch the sunset while sipping on some liquor.

This place helped me realize that life is lived in such little moments , not milestones .
