Trip to Morocco: Day 5 - Ouarzazate

Ouarzazate is situated 200 km south east of Marrakech. You can drive yourself or go by (shared or private) taxi or bus. This is the perfect place to start your trip to the desert. Many excursions to the Sahara start here. Also many film studios are found around this city.

Because it is very hot in Ouarzazate take a taxi to wherever you want to go. Inside the city it is a fixed rate of 4 dirham. If you want to drink alcohol then there is bar Galas across the CTM bus stop. They also have good Moroccan food. In Ouarzazate you can also find good riads to stay for a night or more.

The biggest highlight of the city is the Taourit Kasbah (citadel around a city) which is very impressive. It’s one of the most beautifull kasbah’s of Morocco and it’s a historical monument. Beware of the false guides around there who will take you to shops and ask for money.
