Lets get lost on a 35mm film - our hippy-trippy experience in Palinuro, ItalysteemCreated with Sketch.

There are two sides to this story:
One, willingness to break free of what classical tourism means and dive in new experiences.
Two, willingness to leave aside digital invention of modern photography (aka, phones & SLRs) and capture the moments on 35mm film, without any instruction on how to do it.
Here you can see the result of both.

This summer we took "adventurous" to whole new level, at least for us, by saying No to hotels, airbnbs or couchsurfing, and choosing our double ticketothemoon hammock as our accommodation instead. The plan was to arrive to the destination - Cilento coastline, choose a beach we fancy the most and stay near there. And so we did. For three days and two nights we enjoyed a true hippy trippy lifestyle on the Spiaggia della Marinella beach in Palinuro.

While initial idea was to find a nearby forest and two solid trees to set up our hammock, eventually the steep cliffs right at the edge of thee sea attracted our attention more. Would it be possible to actually set it up in a cliff? To our surprise, just as we set our first steps on the beach itself we noticed that probably we won't be the only guests of such a fancy open hotel. We saw that one of the caves already had a multi-hammock, food-stocked, fire-place ready installations going on. As we eventually found out it was a couple living there for what it seemed more than couple of months; him - fishing late at night and slack-lining during the day, and her - playing with the kids and just being a fabulous amazon-like lady 24/7. They had it all it seemed, even social life, with friends visiting and common hobby activities like rock-climbing.

It was good enough for us. If they can do it, we can do it too. Well, maybe on a smaller scale, but still. So we made our way through the beach finding a perfect spot right at the end. Finding a perfect spot means finding a cliff that has two perfectly located holes or hooks which we could use to set up our bed. And voilà!

It was one of the most beautiful feelings we ever had to experience - having the sea to sing us lullabies and swifts dancing in the sky right above our heads as if they were dream catchers. It was so surreal.

If you ever have a possibility, go there. Maybe the amazon couple is still there. Send our regards. :)

This is a great post, I adore the photos. Film just does something special with hues and the colours are so calming and perfect for the story. And that lifestyle, you've captured my imagination. The idea of rocking up and hanging a hammock in a cave sounds like a very special anti-modern living experience. I love this story.

Thank you for such kinds words! Using film for a change was amazing. Also the anticipation when you can't actually check the picture but have to wait until it is developed! Amazing! It was great experience, I am sure that we opt to repeat this year, maybe in some other place, maybe get back for a while to Spiaggia Marinella. Thank you! :)

Beautiful shots. this world has such epic locations to visit. one question. do you both sleep in one hammock. if so props...sleeping so tightly would have led to a divorce many years ago for me.

hahahah, indeed we did sleep in the same hammock! It is supposedly a double one but still, truth to be said, it was super tight. but you just have to find the right position and then you can sleep your night away. There is also a trick of how you can fold it so it sort of separates in two adjacent "pockets" which makes it even comfier. :) And thank you, given that we used analog camera, it was a real challenge for us! :)

Hi sorry, a question. I just wanted to check whether we are allowed to tag ourself in worldmap by ourselves or we have to wait for an invite? Maybe I have misunderstood the rules.

Ofcourse you are, it's free to use for everyone! You're good, haha!
