Playa Flamingo (Flamingo Beach) is one of Costa Rica's most popular beaches with fine white sand. It has clear blue waters, lagoons, vegetation and abundance of activities. It's the beach of my dreams ;-)

The Playa Flamingo area offers a wide variety of secluded beaches and lagoons due to the mountain formations reaching into the sea. It features hotels, lodging, luxury homes, entertainment, water, land and leisure activities.

Playa Flamingo is located in fairly close proximity to the Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport.
Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport offers seamless travel to the region. Flamingo Beach can be access by way of a paved road.

Alternatively, the smaller airport in Tamarindo receives domestic flights from around the country, and from this airport visitors are a short taxi or bus ride away from Flamingo Beach. From the capital of San Jose, however, the bus or car ride is about six hours along the Inter-American Highway.

Playa Flamingo has two quite distinct seasons. The dry season runs from mid-November until early May. The wet or "green" season runs from mid-May to mid-November.
During the dry season you can expect to see sunshine every day with next to no precipitation.
During the wet season, most of the day tends to remain sunny with very strong rain happening most evenings and sometimes early mornings as well.

The area is possible best known for it's scuba diving. There are several dive shops in town which provide service to the Catalina Islands. These are a series of islands which protrude from the Pacific and are home to a huge amount of marine life including the majestic giant pacific manta. Many scuba diving shops also offer diving to nearby destinations such as the Bat Islands as well as diving in the Gulf de Papagayo.

Unlike many beach communities, Flamingo Beach has no village center. The community that extends east is home to exclusive beachfront Resorts and coveted private property. Thus, life beyond the beach and water sport activities is limited to a few excellent restaurants, and visitors seeking nightlife should head to the nearby town of Brasilito, or beyond.
As is the case with all Beaches in the Papagayo region, Flamingo Beach is rich in natural beauty. Mangroves are abundant in the area, and Salinas Point offers a stunning view of both the Potrero and Brasilito Bays. Not far south of Flamingo Beach is the Marino Las Baulas National Park.

The Marino Las Baulas de Guanacaste National Park is named after the world's largest tortoise, the Lute Turtle or Baula Turtle in Spanish. This park is one of the main nesting grounds of the world of this species. The entire beach and surrounding grounds were classified as national park in 1991. The park covers an area of 700 hectares on land and 220km2 at sea.even if the Luth turtle is the mascot of the park you have little chance of observing it. Only 10% of the turtles coming to lay on this beach are Lute Turtles, the rest being mostly green or black. In any case, the show is worth the candle. The eggs are laid from October to March. The beach is free access during the day, but only the guards can accompany you at night.in fact, the turtles lay at night and will not come if they detect any presence on the beach. It is only after they arrive on the dry sand that you can approach to observe them. These are guards with walkie-talkies and hidden on the beach who will advise your guide when the time comes.it is forbidden to take photographs, movies or use any lighting whatsoever. Be aware that in order to preserve these endangered species, volunteers pick up eggs and incubate them to increase their chances of survival. Indeed, only 10% of them reach adulthood.

The park is also a great place to spot marine birds, including the White Ibis, the Blue-winged Teal, and the Muscovy Duck. Additionally it is home to monkeys, Coatis, and even crocodiles.
