The Ride That Led Me Closer To My Inner-Self!

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

There is nothing better than riding your motorcycle to a beautiful place. Well, except for Sex and football (for obvious reasons). I happen to have a very good friend-circle of bikers and all around awesome people who are all as passionate about riding as I am. We regularly go out on adventures to fairly unknown places to get away from the boring everyday life.

On one such day, we decided to head to Gudibanda Fort. Situated at around 100 km from Bangalore this fort is around 400 years old and has been unknown to many. Our journey started at 5:30 in the morning when it was still dark

Soon the first morning light was shed upon us and I opened my visor to let the cool breeze in.

We were greeted with a long stretch of highway for the first 80 km with lush green crop fields on both sides for the majority of our journey.

Below is a cool gif of all the motorcycles passing by!

After 80 km we took a left turn which then led us to twisty village roads filled with occasional dirt and children playing on the road so we had to take it a little easy. That, however, didn't stop some of us from dragging their knees in the corners!

We finally reached the foothills of the fort from where we had to trek all the way to the top of the hill.

After parking my motorcycle, I saw a dog and petted it (who wouldn't). He would then go on to accompany me to the top of the hill. He appears in many of my later pictures as well.

After resting for a while we started our trek which would take around 20 minutes. There were steps carved into the hill itself and it made for a really beautiful pathway to the top.

The stairs were laid out beneath big rocks which were sitting in high equilibrium and didn't seem like falling for a foreseeable future.

Still, more than halfway to go some of us were getting tired of what seemed like an infinite series of steps.

But our newly found guide kept motivating us, also stopping to take rest when he felt it was needed!

Claustrophobic people might not go through this!

Finally, we reached the top of the hill. There is a very old temple on top which is regularly visited by nearby village people.

Our mind and soul were finally at peace after laying down all tired from head to toe, gazing into the magnificent scenery around the fort.

No one said anything for a while!
