Berlin: Visiting the Headquarter of COPYTRACK - A Decentralized Copyright Management
It was a usual cold and cloudy winter day in Berlin, and I still decided to take a short vacation to Berlin with my Cousins. Besides all the sightseeing and visiting relatives, I also got the chance to visit the headquarter of COPYTRACK. My friend invited me to the headquarter to get to know more about the company. I heard of COPYTRACK only a few weeks ago and got really interested in the company. The headquarter is located in the heart of Berlin, hidden between restaurants and clothing stores. The staff welcomed me very warmly and I immediately entered a discussion them, as well as with the chief executive officer, Marcus, himself. Before I continue talking about my encounter, let’s get an overview of COPYTRACK first.
„COPYTRACK finds copies of your images on the internet and helps you to get paid for your work.“⁰
The Challenges of Digital Content Management
Digital content management faces two types of challenges – those faced by users and those faced by rights-holders.
Users often misunderstand the usage of digital images online and the corresponding licensing options. On the other hand, rights-holders have few or no methods to prove ownership of original content and derivative work.
Also, they often have inadequate tools to track the usage of their copyrighted images and identify violations. Both users and rights-holders are faced with the challenge of reducing the cost of payments, and these costs are invariably added to price of use-rights. In addition, both groups struggle with facilitating seamless and timely settlement of payments.¹
The Future of Global Copyright Registration
At the core of COPYTRACK is the creation of a global decentralized copyright register for digital content, which authenticates users and links digital intellectual property. This registry will generate a unique ecosystem for rights-holders, thereby providing new e-client marketplaces. With its cutting edge technology and processes, it is well-suited to globally address the key challenges in the industry and will be open to the public.²
Licensing + Payments - CPY - Token
CPY will be the native token on our blockchain platform. It will be used for payment in our flexible and modular licensing systems. This enables automated payments to rights-holders based on licenses they design themselves in our friendly and easy-to-use interface. The blockchain and underlying smart contract interface can be extended to incorporate a wide range of additional functionality such as programmatic contracts, variable pricing, and payment routing.³
„CT will expand their services to include registering images via the blockchain and provide a new marketplace for artists and buyers.“⁴
Where do I upload my pictures and how does the copyright control work?
-Upload your images for example via API
-An automatic search engine will run 24/7
-Proof of authorship
-Mark illegal used pictures
-Decide your license value
-Forward your assignment to COPYTRACK

In a short period of time, COPYTRACK grew to be one of the biggest firm in the worldwide market of highly automated copyright enforcement. Besides the head quarter in Berlin, Copytrack has spread its wings in New York and Tokyo.
I had an exciting day at the COPYTRACK office. The atmosphere in there was very enjoyable and you could see that the workers wholeheartedly support their company. I have learned a lot from the company, as well as received a deep insight on the business model. I am so glad that my friend introduced me, to the staff, as I can use it to my advantage to connect and explore more companies to further my knowledge about different types of business models, as well, as sharing it with you guys, of course. Thank you for having me!

Hey that's great news, I somehow missed the information about the ICO. I'm using Copytrack since a while for my blog and I'm very happy with this. It's actually terrifying how many pictures from my blog are being stolen, even from commercial websites such as hotels or tour companies. I keep supporting Copytrack!
Hi Marcel, I focused on writing about my experience and to give you an overview of copytrack. But thank you for the feedback though
That is really terrifying! Sometimes we don´t believe that even "professional" commercial websites etc. steal pictures. I am glad that you discovered copytrack!
Did you discuss the Creative Commons movement with them? I'm curious what they think about that and how that has any (if at all, since Creative Commons is copyleft) way to fit into the world of blockchain...
its a great project.hope that everybody take knowledge from here..so thanks
I really agree with you. There is a great potential to bring the copyright management on an other level! You are welcome
