Zlatibor / Golden Pine Mountain - The empire of pastures and pines!

in #travel6 years ago

I will start a story about this beautiful mountain at 1496 meters above sea level, at its top- Tornik. From here you can see what Zlatibor is - divine and meek wavy plateau. On this mountain nature has created a magical combination of meadows, pine forests, rivers and lakes. Zlatibor is a mountain in Western Serbia and one of the most popular in this part of the Balkans.

I was on the top of Zlatibor several times and every time staying at this place was a real pleasure . You can reach its peak by a cable car, but it is not difficult to climb to Tornik. This time we chose an easier variant. Being on top is a real enjoyment. View of the beautiful parts of Zlatibor has relaxed us.

And here are the photos from the cable car.
One when we went to the top:

And one on the way back:

But before I left the top I would like to explain how Zlatibor got its name. Actually, there is a lot of versions about the name of this mountain. One of the versions (the most interesting to me) is that Zlatibor was named after a rare type of Scots pine Pinus Silvestris Variegata Zlatiborica. The needles of this pine are golden and golden green. There are only a few trees of this tree.

Tornik is a ski center. At the foot of the summit there is a playground, a park adventure, a tennis court, a restaurant, a cafe, a bobsleigh on the railways .... All this is very nicely integrated into the natural environment.

Lunch hour and cows

We were housed in the Kraljeve vode (Royal Waters) the tourist center of Zlatibor, which is about 9 km from Tornik. On our way to Tornik there is our place for lunch - in peace and quiet, surrounded by nature.

We were once in company with cows. Of course, this is nothing strange since large part of Zlatibor is covered with pastures. Pure nature, healthy air, juicy pastures are the right place for them.

See how this cow enjoys life! :) In fact, this is proof that at Zlatibor cheese and kaymak are very tasty and quality. Zlatibor is known for its dairy products. You must taste Zlatibor kaymak! When I mentioned the food, let me add that the beef prosciutto from Zlatibor is also very delicious.

In the Kraljeve vode (Royal waters) - forest, lake and "fast train"

Kraljeve vode (Royal Waters) are a famous tourist center in Serbia. The Royal Water was once called the Partisan's Waters. The time of communism has passed, so the names of many places have changed, even this one. This place is very interesting for children because it has a lot of activities for them. But, in my opinion, there could be less of these activities. :) What I dislike is that the Kraljeve vode have become a huge site for new hotels and resorts. This is an ugly side of tourism development. There were once more pine forests in this place.

Now I'll take you to a small pine forest - park. :)

I love the smell of air when I'm in the woods, especially in the pine forest. There are plenty of such forests in the Royal Water. This forest was the closest to our apartment, so we mostly stayed in it.

Unfortunately almost every day it was raining, but nevertheless we managed to spend a good time, especially in this forest. For children, the forests are a real joy. When you do not have snow, let the children create their "Snowman". This time Rockman was created. :)

The forest was full of forest strawberries. Small, tasty, healthy strawberries were a real delicacy.

There was a lot of mushrooms in the forest, true rain lovers. Unfortunately, I don't know how to identify which mushrooms are edible, and which are not, so I just photographed them. :)

I saw lots of squirrels here. I didn't photograph one, because they were faster than me. :)

The true beauty of Zlatibor is Zlatiborsko Lake.

This artificial lake was created in the middle of the last century. Around the lake leads the path and benches are all around, so you can enjoy its beauty.

"Zlatibor's Fast Train"

For five years now, beside the lake, there is an interesting wooden statue "Zlatibor's Fast Train" - the work of a self-taught artist Miladin Lekic. Miladin is famous for his wooden sculptures. The photo of Todor Gajovic and his horse, which originated in the early 20th century, was Miladin's inspiration for this statute. This wooden sculpture returns to the past. Mostly anyone who comes to Zlatibor takes pictures in front of this old man.

Bakića Kolibe

If you want to spend time on Zlatibor surrounded by nature and far from civilization, this is the right place for you - Bakića Kolibe. We have accidentally come across these huts, which are full of tradition and warmth of old times. The view is fantastic, and each hut is a story for itself. At this place, nature and tradition are merged into one. Since I love peace and quiet, we may spend the next year in this magic place.

I hope you enjoyed this green piece of paradise. Zlatibor rests and activates all your senses. The Golden Pine Mountain is a magical place, but real beauty can only be felt when you visit it. :)

Have a nice day!

With love,

Hvala @ligheye, baš me je uhvatilo neko nemanje vremena :) Fotografije su sveže.

Zlatibor is such a magnificent place! Full-value life, amazing food, positive people. It's overwhelming....and yes, visit it and don't stop visiting it.
Thanks for the lovely post, @ladysnowhite! The love is breathing through your words!
