I do understand your point of view because you like to party and drink sometimes. However, the culture in Penang is a little quiet- Penang lacks the vibrancy compared to Hanoi. Also as a predominantly Muslim country, alcohol and beer are highly taxed and expensive. All these sandwiched with the bad roads,the hot weather, and many others.... it's no surprise you do not like the location.
