I think you can't really beat Zermatt, tbh. I didn't go hiking in Zermatt directly, but went skiing. It's a very sweet place! Are you there for longer?
I agree Zermatt is a paradise on Earth. It was a great choice, went there mainly because more skiing than engelberg, but engelberg is more freeride I hear. I was there for 5 months working the winter. Now I am in Greece sailing around the country!
