I travel the world #309: Bamboo Forest Kyoto
Bamboo Forest Kyoto
The Bamboo Forest in Kyoto is world famous. Every tourist will visit this place and if you ever see articles about Japan and see a beautiful Bamboo forest it is very likely shot in Kyoto. Last time when I visited the Bamboo Forest there were only a few people there but this time it was so full tourists that you could not take a proper picture. We walked passed some parked Riki-shas and these looked really cool.
Bamboo Forest
Funny thing we SPOTTED were the carvings many couples left in the Bamboo. H+K, M+B etc. etc. there were a lot tourist carving their names and a heart into the Bamboo. I really liked the bamboo artists selling their handcrafted toys made of bamboo. At least these guys will never run out of bamboo that's for sure.
Funny Fact about Bamboo: Did you know that Bamboo will grow 1m per day? That's so fast, if you ever were thinking about putting Bamboo in your Garden think twice, Bamboo spreads faster than you can look and getting it out completly is a super messy work.
Do you like Bamboo ???

I love your pictures of the bamboo forest. If I go to Kyoto, I will be sure to visit it. Bamboo has always been a part of my life as it is cherished as a symbol of prosperity and strength. I was told by my Grandmother that bamboo may look weak but is very strong and that it can bend but not break. I look toward bamboo as a good human characteristic. Thank-you for your article.
yes. bamboo is really incredible ;)
Great post as always! When I lived in Japan we were told that in the event of an earthquake to run to the bamboo forests since the roots of the bamboo tended to hold the earth together to a degree. Thank goodness, we never had occasion to test that.

It is really nice place, cemetery near is also great! I wish I could go there when it's empty!
