Ceske Svycarsko (Bohemian Switzerland) is a region of forest and limestone karst country in North Bohemia. It is in fact an extension of a similar region just over the border in East Germany known as Saxon Switzerland, although the similarity to Switzerland in both cases escapes me. A good base is Hrensko, a very touristy town one hour bus ride north of Decin (don’t choose to stay in Decin). There are also several small villages further into the region). A very attractive day trip is to Pravcicka brana, a spectacular natural rock bridge. The bus from Hrensko drops you at the start of the trail, and then it is only about an hour through rich forest and limestone outcrops. You need to pay an entry fee at the castle just below the arch, which gives access to great viewpoints. The trail continues on to the village of Mezni Louka, from where the bus could be caught back to Hrensko and Decin.
