I agree, airlines should get nothing, because if they get a bailout the last thing they will do is pass it onto their employees, who really need it. But as long as they are among the ranks of large political donors, the politicians will be at their beck and call. I’d like to shrug and say “well, that’s the American way!” But I’m not so sure it just us anymore, if it ever was.

In the current (impending) crisis, dysfunctional government is responsible for real people dying in a very public way, and (according to the WHO as late as this week) the pandemic has yet to reach its peak.

We’re in for quite a shitshow as a civilization. Would be great if this time, people actually remember why it happened, when it’s all over.
