in #travel8 years ago (edited)

Some people write the history by reading some literature, then make him own interpretation, but the interpretation sometimes just born out of his own imagination, out of what he had imagined it, and he would not be much closer to the historical facts, and finally, came the bias.

Apparently, it was one of the reasons why some people do not like the history. People who do not like the history it was accused the history is only a deception, especially when the history discussed within the scope of the tendency to side with some politicians, or some political ideologies. It will be talks very annoying for general audience, especially for historians who earnestly working in the field of this knowledge.

Archeology, philology and anthropology are among the disciplines of knowledge that must be mastered by historians in their work. Talking about the field of archeology, is also not enough just to read academic reports made by archaeological team, but also need to going to observe closely the archaeological objects, examine what might be excluded from the records of the archeologists. It is an important thing in this job, and will be very beneficial.

Introduction bit lengthy was deliberately written to explain why we have to take up more than 1500 km with a road trip to get to Padang Lawas, situated in the middle of the highlands of North Sumatra. We began to observe and record various things concerning the route that we traveled from the west coast of North Sumatra to Padang Lawas, where Bahal temple complexes are located.

There are four complexes that we visited, and in all of the temple complex, we observe conditions of the environment, while imagining how life situations, when the temples was built (between the 11th to 13th century CE). All the temples was made using terracotta, and all of that displays a very nice construction design, and demonstrate high intelligence of the architect.

And here's some pictures of our pose while being there.
