The Blue Mosque

The blue mosque is a historic mosque in İstanbul. The blue mosque took seven years to build. It was built from 1609 to 1616. It is located on the site of the Great Palace of Byzantium, on the southeastern side of the Hippodrome. It is called by Europeans as Blue because of interior of the mosques is lined with more than 20.000 handmade iznik style ceramic tiles. It's known Sultan Ahmet cami in Turkish. More than 200 stained glass windows with intricate designs admit natural light.

It has six minarets in total. The blue mosque is also popularly known as massive structure its six minarets because it is only six minarets mosque in Turkey.
