Mostar Bridge
The Mostar Bridge was a very famous and historical bridge before its destruction in 1993 during the war in Bosnia and Hercegovina (part of the former Yugoslavia). The old bridge provides a beautiful centerpiece to the town of Mostar. The bridge was built in the 16th century and comprised the world's widest arc at the time. There is a long standing tradition of local young men diving from the bridges peak. Neretva river, which flows quietly under the bridge, is one of the coldest rivers on the planet. The water temperature often falls below 7°C and the temperature in Mostar is around 12°C.
Sadly the original bridge was destroyed in the Bosnian war and has been reconstructed. Today Mostar remains a united city and still attracting tourists.

The bridge was also called the ‘Fossilised Crescent’ and was generally regarded a masterpiece of Turkish building technique and elegance. Two towers the bridge keepers watch over the bridge from either side of It's lane. The old bridge offers excellent views of the beautiful blue waters of the Neretva River.

Fantastic pictures. It's very sad that Mostar was destroyed during the war in the 1990's, walking around the city even today, almost 25 years on you can still see the cars of war in the buildings, even the people. But they have still managed to reconstruct, and rebuild.
