The Lake District National Park Cumbria - A walk along Cat Bells

in #travel8 years ago

Some photos and local information from a walk along Cat Bells in The Lake District National Park Cumbria

Cat Bells is to the South and West of the Town of Keswick. We drove to a nearby lane at the foot of the hills and started our walk up the Fell. It was a beautiful day for walking. Warm enough to wear a T-shirt. I had my dog and my girlfriend along to keep me company. In this area it is very normal to say hello to strangers passing us by and having a dog meant we would be stopping and talking to other dog lovers along the way. This always makes for pleasant atmosphere.

Cat Bells is a fell in The Lake District in the county of Cumbria. It has a modest height of 451 metres but despite this it is one of the most popular fells in the area. more info
The first picture above is of the pathway leading up to the summit of Cat Bells. The valley bellow and beyond houses the villages of Stair and Little town.

The next three photographs are taken at incremental heights facing North. The small hill in the middle distance is at Fawe Park. I don't know if that little hill has a name of its own. :( The Largest hill in the distance, the one nearly touching the clouds is actually a Mountain. We dont have very many mountains in England but Skiddaw is one of them. Skiddaw is the 6th highest mountain in England measuing 931mertres at the summit. more info

You can just about see the water to the left of Skiddaw, Which is Bassenthwaite Lake. Bassenthwaite is a Nature reserve for wildlife.

On the final stages of path beyond Smelly Bella (the dog), in the distance beyond Cat bells are the peaks of High Spy and Dale Head.

The last photograph taken on our descent. Here we are looking back towards the Town of Keswick to the North East. With Derwent

Hope you have enjoyed my walk.
