Spectacular Sights Of Mayon Volcano In Several Sites

What's up Steemit friends!

I am back to my hometown Cebu. I had a blast from my Luzon vacation in the Bicol Region area. I finally witnessed first hand, the gorgeous Mount Mayon, which is famous for its perfect cone. During our first day in Legazpi City, we were actually worried because the Mayon volcano has not appeared to us, due to the massive clouds enveloping the volcano surroundings.

The Mayon

Also known as Mount Mayon or Mayon volcano, it is Philippine's active volcano that is located in Albay province, and is renowned for its symmetric conical shape, hence it's tagged as a "perfect cone".

One Bicolano word that I learned was "magayon" which means "beautiful", and the caretaker of RH Inn where we were staying at, related to us that the Mayon volcano got its name from that word. They just shortened it by removing the "ga". According to Wiki, local folklore refers to the volcano being named after the legendary princess-heroine "Daragang Magayon". The name means "Beautiful Lady" in English.

At The Cagsawa Ruins

When we arrived in Cagsawa, we engaged in ATV ride to the Green Lava Trail at the foot of the Mayon, at Mi-Isi, Daraga Albay. Our guides told us that it was one good spot to get a clear view of the Mount Mayon. However, we never got to witness it since a lot of clouds has covered the Mayon. When we went to Cagsawa Ruins, a few minutes after the Green Lava Trail, it was still the same scenery.

This was at Mi-Isi Daraga Albay. It's a 6km-danger-zone. This was supposed to be an excellent venue to see the Mayon but the clouds were not so nice to us that day, and selfishly hid the volcano.

The next day, we planned to go back to Cagsawa just in case the weather will cooperate. Indeed, it was a perfect day as we got to get a great glimpse of Mayon in Ayala Mall, but another bad news has reached us. A nationwide strike was announced so there weren't any jeepneys going to Cagsawa at that point. So, we ended up at the Ayala mall and just hang out there and kill the time.

I took this shot while we were hanging out in Starbucks, at the Ayala mall. It's breath-taking. I wouldn't be surprised if people would also love to hang out at this part of the mall.

The night before our last day in Legazpi, my friends and I planned to wake up at dawn, so that we will be able to go back to Cagsawa Ruins, and hopefully achieved to capture that beautiful snap of the Mayon volcano, thereafter. Much to our delight, we immensely did not regret waking up early because of the magnificent view that we perceived.

Finally! This was the view that I so long to witness at Cagsawa Ruins.

At The Lignon Hill Nature Park

Our resiliency paid us good price during our first day. Although we got discouraged during the entire day in Cagsawa, we never lose hope. By the time, we decided to go back to our inn, the day shed us light and paved way to our sight of the Mayon. The clouds have been cleared and the perfect cone was now a clear spectacle.

One of my friends suggested that we go to Lignon Hill Nature Park to get a clear view. So off we headed to the nature park via a tricycle. It was a long road going up to the hill that you have to ride a "habal-habal transportation" to the hill top. We tried walking it but mid-way, we felt so exhausted and we were running out of time because it was already getting dark. Good thing, there was a "habal-habal" that passed by transporting some passengers one at a time, and we asked if he could also take us to the hilltop, and he agreed fortunately.

At The Daraga Church

On October 29, 2007, this Nuestra Senora de la Porteria Church has been declared by the National Museum (NM) as a "National Cultural Treasure". Then, on October 16, 2008, this church was also declared as a "National Historical Landmark" by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP).

Tremendously, it is such a gorgeous place as well, and a very good setting to take photographs. You can still view the Mayon volcano at this side of town.
