Sunset at Uluru (Ayers Rock)

When I was travelling in Australia, I did not even plan on visiting Uluru. Why would anyone drive through the Outback for thousands of kilometres just to see a giant rock? But since my ride share from Cairns to Darwin wanted to see Uluru, I endet up there. I was not really expecting anything, but in fact, Uluru is so much more than just a "giant rock" and I had an incredible time in the national park!

I bet you're glad you did though. I know I was after 9 days of being on the travel group because it was AMAZING! Geologically yes, a big rock formed by tectonic plate movement... but when you listen to the Aborigine stories of creation and what it means from the Mala walk at the base, it's so spiritual. Did you visit Kata Tjuta as well?

It is such an amazing place, I felt this incredible connection with nature at this place! Kata Tjuta is awesome as well, I was lucky to see some dessert flowers there because it has rained the months before

Yea when you learn about their culture and how they believed it all came to be, it does something to your own mind and opens it up for sure. When were you there? I was only there a couple of days ago but there wasn't a cloud in the sky for the most part. Windy in Kata Tjuta

Kata Tjuta is known as "Valley of the winds" for a reason ;) I was in Australia in 2016, such an awesome country to visit. Enjoy your time and let me know if you need tips on budget travel in Australia!

Exactly, and it was basically a giant wind tunnel!

I've been in 2015 to the east coast and I am in my final 3 days now here, staying near the airport and probably just going to be chilling as I picked up a nasty flu virus from my escapades in the outback and have travelled over 40,000 km (including flying over here) in the last 78 days... I need a holiday 😂

Sorry for the late reply, enjoy home after this busy time on the road! I am sure you had a great time, Australia is amazing. I still want to come back and travel from Darwin to Perth, the West Coast is supposed to have amazing nature.

Thanks man! I think I'm ready for a holiday now after that traveling experience haha! It does have a lot to offer and that West coastline is vast and not populated in thr slightest so will be mostly unspoilt! I've not been to Darwin or Perth but those places will be next on my list for Australia but I feel there are places closer to home to enjoy for the time being 🙂
