Escape to "Cattleya Eco Lodge" in Roatan, Bay Islands of Honduras

I'm writing this post for you from the stunning caribbean island of Roatán, Honduras.  I travel here every couple of weeks to work and today I feel inspired to share some information with you about this phenomenal island and hope you consider visiting this place when planning your next vacation. 

With a population of about 50,000 and located about 40 miles off the northern coast of Honduras, Roatan is one of three islands that make up the Bay Islands of this country.  It's home to many of the best scubba dive spots in the world, as it sits near the Mesoamerican barrier reef , which is considered to be the second largest in the world.  Besides the many water activities that this island offers, it is a cruise ship and eco tourism destination that offers it's visitors, an unforgettable experience.  I will be posting about other aspects of the island, such as real estate, cuisine, activities and nightlife in future posts but for now I will focus on a unique spot called "Cattleya Eco Lodge" 

This Eco friendly place is a great spot to relax and appreciate nature.  Located in Gibson Bight Bay, this 4 acre property offers it's guests, a peaceful experience where they can enjoy some quiet time, but if they're up for some nightlife, it's located just a 5 minute drive away from West End, which is where most of the bars and restaurants of the island are located.  The hotel currently offers 13 rooms for it's guests, ranging from double to triple room at very affordable rates, from $41 to $59 per night per room.    

As you can see, the rooms are quite simple, there is no TV, but that's a good thing if you want to disconnect from the usual.  It does offer free wifi though.  This place also has access to the bay on two sides, making it ideal for snorkeling and kayaking, which the hotel currently provides for free.

 

In a nutshell, Roatán is a beautiful island and is ideal for families, divers or just people who want to party and enjoy good food.  I'm going to bore you with a few more picture, but remember that if you want to take a caribbean vacation anytime soon, please consider what this island has to offer.
