Steemit Cancer Free Road Trip Journal #8 - Las Vegas, Nevada

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

We passed through Arizona and hung out with family, but we didn't take many pictures out there, so this journal will be for our next stop, Las Vegas, Nevada. People are usually shocked that I like this place, because it is a cesspool for consumerism, an environmental disaster and there is a terrible homeless population there, but it is also the most free city in America, at least from my experience.

You can get away with pretty much anything in Vegas as long as you don't hurt anyone or cause too much of a scene, so naturally, it is one of my favorite places to eat psychedelics. It can be really interesting to observe humans in a habitat like this and take it all in while you are in a heightened state, plus there is plenty of cool stuff to look at.

There were some very trippy art installations, the first three pics were at the Bellagio, the rest were on Fremont Street

We ended our time in Vegas by checking out the Cirque du Soleil show "Zumanity," which was by far one of the best live performances that I have seen. There were extremely talented dancers and acrobats, but the themes of the show were very sexual and there was tons of nudity. It was pretty hardcore, but I love to see these types of barriers get torn down, especially in popular works of art. In the years that I have been involved in activism, I have spoken about all different types of freedom, but not enough about sexual freedom, and I hope to correct that in the future.

Before we left Vegas we stopped through Red Rock Canyon and Lake Mead

We found some petroglyphs here too!

I am currently on road trip to celebrate my recovery from    cancer,  and the whole trip is funded by steem, which I discussed in  my   first road trip journal.   Next will be my trip to Zion Park!   Thanks  so  much  to everyone who has helped me on steemit to make this   possible!

I lived in the Vegas area for several years and founded my LLC for my software business there in 2007. But once I lived there, I never again went into the casino's (on the advice of a friend of mine who was a floor manager at Caesar's Palace). Gambling is for the tourists. If you get sucked into that while living there, you'll go bankrupt for sure.

Ironically, once my legal residence was in Henderson, I was probably only within 10 miles of there 50% of the time. I was always traveling to conferences. This was how I got around during that period...
