5 Most Amazing Places To Experience In Amsterdam

I had a three month honeymoon in Europe with my wife and thought I'd share some of our experiences on our journey throughout Europe. Below is some of the sites we were able to see and enjoy in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Amsterdam is a site to see. We had an amazing time here, and it went by so fast. Just be careful of all the cars, bikes, boats, and pedestrians. Amsterdam is a busy city and the sidewalks and roads tend to blend together. Below you can find a list of 5 major attractions to find in Amsterdam.

Amsterdam Canal Ring

The next stop on our trip after Paris, was Amsterdam. Amsterdam is an amazing city to visit, the beautiful scenery and culture is overwhelming. The center of Amsterdam forms canal rings, and it brings this sense of peacefulness. There are a few main canals, and mini canals that connect. There are so many different tourist attractions to experience in Amsterdam. Take advantage of the canals by boat tours, or even renting your own boat. My wife and I ended up doing both. We first took a private boat tour to learn more about the canals. Afterwards, we rented our own electric boat. Renting the boat was the most fun out of it all. Getting lost on the canals is an experience I'll never forget.

Van Gogh Museum

The Van Gogh Museum displays over 500 sketches and around 200 paintings. You can see hundreds of letters that Van Gogh has written. Go to the Van Gogh Museum if you'd like to see beautiful paintings and artwork. We had a great time here. Tickets cost around 17 Euro, and if you are under 18 you'll get in for free.

Amsterdam Brown Cafe'

We walked through Amsterdam's busy streets for hours. After tiring out we finally stopped at one of the many Amsterdam Brown Cafes. We ordered an Irish coffee. In every country we've been to that has been our tradition to order an Irish Coffee. Everyone is friendly in Amsterdam and you'll have no problem getting by with English. Everyone in Amsterdam speaks English. We had our most fun by just people watching.

Anne Frank House

The Anne Frank House is right in the center of Amsterdam. During World War II, Anne Frank wrote her famous diary in this house. The house was a hiding place for Anne Frank and her family. Two families lived in this house for over two years hiding from Nazi soldiers. Anne Frank had to be quiet all the time so no one would hear that they were hiding there. They didn't have any windows and couldn't leave. This was an emotional experience and a must see if you are in Amsterdam. I recommend buying your tickets online. The lines are generally long, but if you buy online you can skip the line. We bought our tickets the same day online and had no problems getting inside. If you are up for the wait in line it can be up to three hours.

Architecture

If you already experienced all the main tourist sites, just walk around and take in the scenery. A lot of people stand and sit by the canals and just enjoy the boats driving by. Others spend time soaking in the amazing architecture Amsterdam offers. Both of us spent a lot of time just walking around and getting lost. You can have a lot of fun doing that. Amsterdam is definitely a top place we recommend to experience. This is an exceptional place, and we hope to be back soon.
