Moments of the time/ Instantes del tiempo

The french theorist André Bazin, protector and guide of the directors that changed the film scene of France in the mid 60', in one of his wonderful articles collected in his work magna "Which is the cinema?", coined a handful of words that would change my perspective on how observed the picture. According to Bazin, the photography “freezes” a space in time, a place, an event, an object. That is, and always will be, the idyllic dream of man: to preserve a memory as it is for, as well as the years go by, relive the moment as if it was still there. In this case, a butterfly that happened to be perched in a tree in front of where we camp. Wonderful, doesn't it?

El teórico francés André Bazin, protector y guía de los directores que cambiaron el panorama cinematográfico de Francia a mediados de la década de los 60´, en uno de sus maravillosos artículos recogidos en su obra magna "¿Qué es el cine?", acuñó un puñado de palabras que harían cambiar mi perspectiva sobre cómo observo la fotografía. Según Bazin, la fotografía “momifica” un espacio en el tiempo, un lugar, una circunstancia, un objeto. Ese es, y siempre será, el idílico sueño del hombre: preservar un recuerdo tal y como está para, así pasen los años, rememorar el momento como si aún estuviera allí. En este caso, una mariposa que por casualidad se posó en un árbol frente a donde acampábamos. Bella, ¿no es así?
