Citilink Opens Direct Route from Jakarta

Low cost carrier (LCC) Citilink Indonesia continues to expand its business by opening new routes to continue the positive growth gained. This time by opening direct flights Jakarta - Banyuwangi and flying special guests Tourism Minister Arief Yahya.

"The inaugural flight to Banyuwangi is Citilink Indonesia's commitment to support the development of national tourism that can still be explored in Banyuwangi known as the diamond triangle area, namely Ijen Crater, Plengkung Beach and Sukomade Beach," said Minister Arief Yahya before taking off from Soekarno- Hatta, Cengkareng, Banten, Thursday (15/2/2018).

The direct flight of Jakarta route through Soekarno-Hatta Airport - Banyuwangi using Boeing 737-500 aircraft with a capacity of 120 passengers for one flight per day.

"It is expected that Citilink Indonesia's new route to Banyuwangi can encourage acceleration to accelerate tourism as well as increase connectivity Banyuwangi with other regions in Indonesia and to introduce tourism to international level," said Director of Citilink Indonesia Juliandra Nurtjahjo.

It is also hoped that the opening of this new route will support local government efforts to improve infrastructure, consolidate Iokal's cultural wealth and consolidate the tourism community.

In addition, the flight route Jakarta Banyuwangi is also a contribution of Citilink Indonesia in realizing the government's target to meet the number of foreign tourists visiting by 20 million visits in 2019.

Citilink Indonesia also sees Banyuwangi as having a potentia market to accommodate the surrounding community by providing direct alternative to Jakarta.

Previously, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia through the Ministry of Tourism has announced 10 new branding destinations containing Banyuwangi on one of them, namely Bandung, Bali, Jakarta, Kepri, Joglosemar (Jogja-SoIo-Semarang), Coral Wonders (Wakatobi-Bunaken-Raja Ampat) , Medan, Makassar, Lombok, and Banyuwangi.

Until now Citilink Indonesia has flown to 65 flight routes and 268 frequency flights each day to 32 cities in Indonesia and regionally.

Starting 2018, Citilink Indonesia succeeded in reaching the predicate of a four-star cost-effective airline from Skytrax that aligns with other world airlines such as Norwegian Air and EasyJet from the UK.

Citilink Indonesia is the first LCC airline in Asia and the third in the world that successfully won the prestigious title in the world of aviation.

In addition, Citilink Indonesia is also designated as the best air transport service company in managing the aviation safety aspect throughout 2017, and was awarded Top IT Implementation on transportation sector 2017. Source
