Islands are pretty, personally prefer quiet stretches of beach where you are able to enjoy your own thoughts, get taken with the tide.
Shopping not high up on a list of things to do when walks are available to get out and enjoy life.
I agree, small beaches are almost deserted and my favorites too. In Greece there are countless.
