Hotel Review #1: Hotel Relax 5 in Taipei

Soon after my arrival in Taipei, I checked in for my first night at Hotel Relax 5 which was a 3-star hotel but I was given a 4-star hotel service. My previous visit to Taipei, I was staying at an Airbnb but realising that the price of the hotel is almost similar on this trip which triggers​ me to book a hotel this time and another reason is​ that this hotel just nearby to my office which is just ​8-10 minutes walking distance. Walking in Taipei during winter is nothing compared to Malaysia as you'll start to complain about how hot it is even just under a 5 minutes walk thanks to the all summer weather.

Upon checked in, I was assigned to my booked standard single room on the corner of the 5th floor, and to my knowledge that only Hotel Relax 5 has this type of room compared​ to their other branches. Inside the room, the first thing I saw was this huge bright window from where the single bed was located up until inside the toilet, making the room looks spacious even though the room is just 100cm x 188cm. The bed provided has a very comfortable mattress with a very soft blanket which keeps me warm at night and the design of the room is very minimalist, neat which I like it very much and is well equipped with all the items,

The toilet was actually divided into toilet and shower room, which located separately within the room. The toilet is located where the huge window was while the shower room is located next to the entrance of the room. The toilet was equipped with a heated seat which is perfect for winter and one thing I like about the shower room was the shower head design, the water came out from it feel like silk smooth hitting my skin when I have my bath.

From the huge bright window in my room oversee a cross-section​ of a road, luckily there wasn't much​ car and bike during the night but the ​noise of the traffic started to get raised up from 7.30AM onwards. With Hotel Relax 5 located right in the middle of the city, there are a lot of offices, hotel, hostel, restaurant and convenient​ store (7-11, Watson & Family Mart) all around it which is a major advantage to easily find the things you needed.

There's a hidden small cafe providing unlimited beverages like coffee, tea, milk tea​, water and some snack 24/7 within the hotel and locker as well for the​ hotel guest. House Keeper keeps your room tidy and clean every day and they do provide wake up call service as well by the reception​.

Taiwanese are famous for their friendliness​ and politeness which makes them excel in the ​service industry, the receptionist of the hotel was very friendly, accommodating​, speak fluent English and very professional at their job. My umbrella was​ accidentally taken​ by one of the hotel guests​ and I was able to retrieve back after describing the looks of it to the receptionist​.

Public Transport

As a tourist/traveller​, public transport access is very important and Hotel Relax 5 is actually located nearby the Taipei Main Station which is a 10-15 minutes walking distance. There are several types of public transport​ stopped at this station which includes MRT, Taiwan Airport MRT, High-Speed​ Rail (HSR), Train-Taiwan Railway (Like KTM in Malaysia), Buses and Taxi.

Not only that, with the ​easy card you can board all of the public transport, and the fare was very affordable too. Taipei Main Station to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport took 35 minutes, and fare NTD 160, the first express train leave at 6:00 AM from the Taipei main station, the last train from Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is 11:38 PM. The nearby attraction that you can go without any public transportation and under 1KM walking distance only.
