I'm living in Wanaka so far and I've been to Taranaki. I loved so much this area, the volcano over-looking the whole valley it's fantastic
But yes the weather is tricky lol. I was planning to do the hike on the top of the Taranaki but from full sun in the morning, it became full rain 3 hours after. Oops
