Very good description, travel and photographs.
As you said, it was named as Cartagena, Spain. But in order to distinguish them its complete name is "Cartagena de Indias".
Thats right. Because the Spanish thought they are in India, so they named it de Indias ;) Thanks for the add and your comment.
