J-vacation - Trip to the City of Love and Romance! (Part 1)

in #travel7 years ago

Hello fellow Steemians!
It's me Jessica again! And today, I would like to share with you my recent trip to Paris.

Well, just for you all to know, Paris has been one of the hundred cities that I'd been dreaming to visit ever since I was born. Like really, no kidding.

The city of love and romance cast its own charm and magic and kept me interested all the times. Well, some of you guys might say, blah blah blah, it's too commercialised in movies and whatnot. But I have to say, it's really one of a kind, and she is such a beauty, a must-visit for at least once per lifetime. I can't guarantee any other thing but I can assure you the experience, the people and the ambience that Paris can give you can last a lifetime. At least for me.

We flew all the way to Groningen after a mini trip in London to chill and have some long overdue rests. Groningen is the place where my boyfriend lives, and we got to relax and enjoy for a little bit. My mummy was having some really bad jetlags, so a brief pause along the journey definitely helps. After taking enough rests, we continue our journey to Paris by car. Yeap, you heard that, car.

It was a really long 8-hour ride from where my boyfriend lives to Paris. Kudos to him for driving for 8 hours straight! Meanwhile, being a professional human GPS, all I did was directing the way and having some mini concert in the car just to keep him awake. Teehee. You had absolutely no idea how excited I was for Paris!

After we checked in our hotel, we took the metro and immediately went to our first destination of the day which is the infamous Avenue des Champs-Élysées. The avenus itself is one of the most pretties avenues in the world, if I were to say, and it blends rich history and monuments altogether in once place. It was raining heavily and we were so hungry, so we just randomly walked into a cafe for a late lunch. Our first meal in Paris was expensive and not that impressive. The steak I ordered costed me around 20 euros and It was really underwhelming.

After our late lunch and it was already 7 and the sky already went dark! We took a short walk along the avenue street and check out the famous Arc de Triomphe.

The Arc de Triomphe, is one of the world most famous monuments. Anyway, on a completely random sidenotes, the roundabout here with the wildest traffic circling the monument definitely worth a mention here. There are no traffic lights controlling the vehicles and it's really crazy! Haha!

And since it was raining non-stop, and most of the shops were already closing by the time we finished our photo shooting. We just took the metro back to hotel and had some coffee nearby. And yeap, this marked the end for our first day in Paris.

Stay tuned. And I will breakdown my Paris trip into several parts!

Did you learn anything or did you just eat shit and look cute?

hey no need to be that personal. I enjoy myself there and tbh it's a nice place. but that's not a nice comment.

You're right, that wasn't a nice comment. Thank you for that profound description of Paris. You've created a picture and placed me in it.

Does the sky always go dark? I hear that happens a lot.
