When I was in Rome, Italy last month, I stopped and took a tour of the ancient Roman Colosseum. Although it's a bit of a tourist trap nowadays, it remains a fascinating structure rich with history. I purchased a 'Skip the Line' pass which included a tour of the Palatine Hill and Roman Forum. When I thought about what it must have been like during it's prime-time, my imagination ran wild. Over five hundred thousand people and one million animals lost their lives for the sake of entertainment inside of this building. Next time you see another terrible 'Roughing the Passer' call in an NFL game, think back to the days of the Colosseum and you will realize how far mankind has come.

Yeah the Colosseum is great and even more if you think about all the stuff that happened there. But what blew up my mind was the Roman Forum. If you go up to the hill it looks like a movie set, just amazing.
It's a little bit of a downer all the turist traps involving buying tickets for every museum.
I agree! I still need to sort through my Roman Forum photos. I could only imagine what it was like in it's hayday!
