Vegas Baby!
Today I made the final payment towards my flights and made it official that I am soon going to be traveling across the pond and fulfilling a lifelong dream of visiting the United States of America. In roughly 12 weeks time I will be heading to Sin City and spending a week in Las Vegas!
The purpose of the trip is because my older brother will be getting married and we've decided to do something completely original and have his stag party in Vegas. As well as being a significant event in which we send my brother off into the realms of being a married man and help him say goodbye to the single life in style the trip will be of great personal importance to me. As I say visiting America and particularly Vegas has long been a dream of mine. Being a gambler, poker player and a huge fan of movies and UFC there have been many events taking place in Vegas over the years that I've had interest or a connection to.
I will be staying in the Luxor hotel, a hotel I have seen hundreds of times in movies over the years and have always thought looked so iconic and wonderful. To be able to walk in there will blow my mind. I'm also looking forward to seeing many other familiar landmarks from movies such as the fountains outside the Bellagio, the Welcome to Las Vegas sign etc.
Also being a big fan of the UFC it will also be really cool to see the place where most of the major events have gone down, sadly there are no events in Vegas at the time of my trip so I won't be able to watch an event live but I am hopeful there are some UFC tourist attractions or something to check out. I'll be researching things like that over the next few weeks.
Another thing on the to do list is to check out the Grand Canyon, it's another place I've seen hundreds of times in movies and in pictures but it will be great to actually check out in person.
Although I am budgeting for the trip and only taking money that I am prepared to leave behind in Vegas, like everyone I'm sure I would love to come home with some extra money. I am looking forward to trying my luck on the legendary machines and sitting down at the card tables inside the casinos of Vegas.
Hopefully I'll be able to come back with some cool stories and pictures to share but when we all got together to arrange the trip we were sworn to the old “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas" pact. So there may be some things I won't be able to post about. If all goes well!
