Bozeman trip - May 2018
The Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman Montana has a very extensive collection of dinosaur bones as well as regularly changing educational exhibits.
This weekend we went over to attend to the Julius Caesar and History of Rome exhibit which had a lot of examples of different machines and tools that Romans used to conquer the world.
Big Mike the T-Rex!
A T-Rex now known as Montana 180:
Look at that leg! And a 9 foot long RIB!
Then we saw the Roman exhibit!
And some of the cool recreated machines, these are different types of cranes:
And a stop to visit my Mother in Law got me some daffodil pictures:
Bozeman is a beautiful city to explore, we highly recommend it if you ever get a chance!
Great pictures, it is a pretty amazing museum for Montana!
That collection of dinosaur bones is amazing @jamethiel. Do you know why there was a Roman exhibition there as well ? (apologies for my ignorance :)
The Roman exhibit is traveling around the country. The Museum of the Rockies has an exhibit space that is used to bring neat things like this one to Montana. There was a great Egyptian one about 2 years ago and a history of cartoons last year. Next month an interactive history of guitars and music will be in that space, and in November they will have the Arctic photography and exploration exhibit. By having a rotating interactive exhibition, they get repeat customers like us and local folks have a reason to visit on a regular basis. In the dinosaur area is a laboratory viewing section where visitors can watch paleontology staff carefully work on removing rock matrix from around dinosaur bones.
That's a great strategy @jamethiel ! I love visiting museums and art centres.
Nice pictures. I should get some of mine posted.
Love Bozeman. And the Museum of the Rockies has some great exhibits.
We are looking forward to their Artic exploration exhibit next winter! And we agree, Bozeman is a great place to wander.
