What is a self dump when it comes to Error Fares on flights?

Self-Dump

Because the fuel charge was added after any reservation system was made, there are plenty of glitches/errors that happen. Airlines know that these happen on these extremely outdated networks, however, it's INSANELY expensive to upgrade these systems, so they just leave it be. Errors usually happen when there are more than 1 company on the same ticket. Any fuel charge of these flights are “dumped” because there is a smaller, cheaper flight on the ticket. This error fare from Germany to New York city is a PERFECT example of a self-dump.

There are ways that as a cheap flight deal enthusiast you can pair certain airlines together to greatly increase the chances that there will be a fuel dump happening. I will cover this in a later blog post.
