Had the Backpack on my shoulders, a rucksack in one hand and a green snapback on my head which my grandfather once gave me. Before arriving i had already decided to take a taxi. My Hotel was situated in the city district of Ipanema, in between the Copacabana district. these two districts are also known for their famous beaches! To be honest i was a bit nervous. Alone in big Rio. I was not scared but i had respect of the crime in this city.

Taxi struggle

Speaking with a taxi broker i tried to find out what a taxi to Ipanema costs to make sure i have enough money with me. He offered a horrendous price. I would call it a “give-me-your money-gringo-price”.
So i went to a taxi and leaned through the window. Saw in a second he had a taximeter installed. He assured to bring me to Itapema so i hopped in. Again he wanted to charge me this unreal price and after arguing for a few minutes we drove off with the taximeter.

Had a nice chat with the driver, arrived at the hotel, paid half the offered price and the adventure Rio de Janeiro began.
First things first, up to the Christ the Redeemer.

The Christ was covered in fog when i arrived.



The fog disappeared and revealed stunning views!
