Nha Trang Attractions: #11 Hon Mieu Island

Hon Mieu Island sits about a kilometre off the southern most tip of Nha Trang’s main seafront. It is a small island covering just 1.3square kilometres. It is though the best of all Nha Trang’s inshore islands. It’s a busy little place with lots to see and do. In typical Vietnamese confusing tradition, Hon Mieu is also often called Tri Nguyen Island.

One of the popular attractions here is theTri Nguyen Aquarium. It is build like a three-story concrete ship. It has two main areas, indoor and outdoor. The indoor part is a long tunnel through which visitors can walk and look at the huge aquariums on either side.

There are quite a few nice beaches on the island. Bai Son is one of the quite ones whereas Bai Tran offers better sand and is as a result busier. It is worth taking a trip on a glass bottomed boat here to look at the coral.

Hon Mieu Fishing Village
The Hon Mieu fishing village is a throw back in time where people survive by traditional fishing and farming methods. You can visit and see the cages which house cages, lobster, squid, oysters, and crabs. The seafood here is not to be missed.
