Attractions of Halong Bay #5 Ti Top Island

Ti Top Island is located right in the heart of Halong Bay, and is only 5 miles to the Southeast of Bai Chay Harbour. Ti Top Island is regarded by most as one of the very best islands for scenic beauty in the whole bay. It draws many international and domestic tourists enjoying a cruise on Halong Bay.

For some reason the island was named by President Ho Chi Minh, in honour of Gherman Stepanovich Titov, a Russian astronaut after he visited the island in 1962. It is a lovely little place, for a start, it is one of the few small islands in the bay that has a decent beach. The very nature of limestone karts is that they generally rise imperiously out of the water making even landing impossible. Here there is a delightful beach where you can land to swim and sunbathe. In addition to this you can climb to the look out point right at the very top and get the most amazing views possible of a huge part of the jewel in the crown of Vietnam, Halong bay.

In recent years the island has been somewhat developed, some would say over developed, with hotels, resorts, restaurants and bars catering for the tourists. It’s always a balancing act of course, he local people are poor and any boost to their local economy has to be good for them. There are kayaking rental shops, snorkelling and other beach based activities also.

Ti Top Island is still a very good place to visit, one of the best islands in Halong Bay it should be on your wish list.
