Annpurna trek, Nepal day 2
Continuing from my previous day's post - day two of the trek was from Ulleri village (1960 m) to Ghorepani (2750 m). Even before I started trekking, I looked up to the clear blue sky and was stunned to see the massive Annapurna South & Hiunchuli peaks standing tall. Previous evening, I had no idea about the visibility of these peaks from Ulleri as the skies were under heavy cloud cover.
The day's trek was mostly through the dense forest cover and the sun rays could bare reach the ground. This was a welcome change from the previous day as the temperature was comfortable and the breeze was quite cool. The trail was mostly flat and uneven but did not involve much climb for the first two hours.
Later in the day, the trail started climbing steadily and it got a bit tough to negotiate the never ending stairs. At that point in time I realised how heavy lunch of "dal-bhaat" was not such a good idea. Light meal in several small doses is always better. And ofcourse, sipping water every now and then to keep yourself hydrated.
Finally, I reached Ghorepani by 3 pm and quickly booked a room in a tea house. Ghorepani was quite cold and wind was strong too. It was time to rest my legs, get under hot shower, finish dinner by 6.30 pm and hit the bed by 8.30 pm.
I was super excited about next day, as I had to wake up at 4 am for a short 50 mins trek to Poon Hill for the glorious morning sun rise view of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Machhapuchhere (all together). 😀🌞
