INDAY CLARA TRAVELS SOLO #4: CHECKING OUT THE FAMOUS PAGODAS IN HANOI
Hey guys! How are you all doing? I hope you are all doing great and feeling awesome just as I am because my laptop and phone are finally fixed! Thanks to my sweetest mother who sponsored the costs. So for today I am going to share my visit to the two most famous Pagodas in Hanoi. And they were quite different from one another.
Pagoda – a tower with several different stories each of which has its own roof. They serve as a Hindu or Buddhist temple or sacred building. Pagodas are common in India and East Asia.
ONE PILLAR PAGODA
Upon entering the site, you will see a Buddha statue in front of a small temple.
Then passing by the temple, you will find the pagoda itself. It is a small wooden structure mounted on a concrete pillar as you can see on the pictures.
This one is seen at a center of a lotus pond. Built between the years 1028 and 1054, It was said that Emperor Ly Thai Tong had this temple constructed in honor of the Buddhist deity Quan Am, the Goddess of Mercy who gave a fatherless emperor a son resting in a lotus flower through a dream.
My tour guide then prayed for my prosperity and happiness. I hope he prayed for my love life as well!
Entrance fee to this pagoda is free. It is open from 8:00am to 5:00pm.
TRAN QUOC PAGODA
One of the oldest or ancient pagodas in Hanoi. This one dates back to the 6th century. It is located in an islet within west Lake. It has a height of 15 meters with 11 floors. You wold wonder how on earth they were able to construct this one.
This pagoda was famous to many kings and lords back then due to its stunning scenery and sacred sanctuary. But much of the landscape now has changed due to urbanization over the years. Nonetheless, this iconic site is still one of the top destinations for locals and tourists alike.
Entrance fee to this one is also free. This pagoda is open from 7:30am onwards.
