London's Covent Garden

in #travel7 years ago

You could say it's my favorite place to hangout in London, having everything you could ever want when out and about for a day.

Centrally located, it have a village feel to it where the streets are covered in cobbled stones. High end shop buildings have residential flats in its' top floors, having some ridiculously named English pubs located in between. This  in contrast to the high end shopping streets like in Oxford St. Although, High St. Kensington is a bit similar with its' facades and posh side streets along side it.

Cafes and restaurants can also be found arranged around its' market and within its' basement where the taverns'  impromptu live music can be heard in an open area as you dine in. More often, this draws shoppers to rest and have a quick bite or just have coffee and listen.

More often, those guys busking have cds to sell. I wish U2 do an impromptu gig here and i'll buy them coffee🤣😂

Good food, music and company.

Apple market

Its' walls made of bricks, its' ceiling retaining its' rustic beams of long ago market and years gone by.

The stalls of market traders hawking fruit and vegetables gradually became an established feature of the square.

European cities have market days that draws every tourist and locals alike, London have a daily one in Apple market. Artists' products can be found here, in every stall.

And in here is where I can recommend for every tourist to go to when wanting to look and buy something unique and special. And affordable.

A tea shop called Whittard

Every once in a while, I come here just to buy my tea.  Hot tea, cold tea, fruity, spicy or coffee-flavoured, Whittard have it.

I stock mine.

Who doesn't go gaga with those cute and colorful tins?

Not a single tea shop have drawn me in like Whittard. Every possible care is given once you entered its' door. Once inside, everything in it is noticeable arranged with loving touch, its' ambience so homey and inviting. Need i say more?

I've only seen another Whittard shop in Regent's St. and none elsewhere in London. But in comparison, the one in Covent Garden is the ultimate.

Can anyone guess what these are?

There are a lot of things that you can do in Covent Garden.

Street performers can be seen infront of Apple market, they are usually chosen and not just randomly. It's usually here where throngs of people can be found watching the performances. Diners can also be seen from the resuaurants' verandas overlooking the square. To the side of the market, the Transport Museum can be found and the London Opera House.

Walk further from Covent Garden and you will find The Strand, Holborn, Soho, Leicester Square and China Town. You won't get bored in and around Covent Garden, nor get hungry.

Be warned, no one leaves empty-handed either.

Did anyone guess what are those in the last photo? Please leave your answer in the comment section😉😉
